COVINGTON —There are many trophies that line the walls of a room in a section of St. Paul’s Gene Bennett Gymnasium which didn’t exist 30 years ago when the wrestling program began, and once had no hardware.
In that span of time, the St. Paul’s wrestling program, which began under Tim Burns in 1982 and handed off to Craig Ketelsen in 1988, only three individuals have finished a season undefeated, and one who accomplished the feat twice, but never in the same season. David Boyce did it in the 215-pound and 285 class while Corey Miller (152) and Jason Pelloat (189) were the others with perfect seasons.
Senior Chris Arms, the top seed in the Division I 170-pound class, and junior Connor Campo, No. 1 at 126, could provide the Wolves with a rare slice of history at the Division I state wrestling tournament this weekend as they enter competition undefeated against state competition and seeded first in their respective weight classes.
