Wolves fall to Central

The clock struck midnight on the St. Paul's Wolves season Friday night as the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs fell to the 32 seed Central Wildcats of Baton Rouge 35-28.
The 10-0 Wolves cruised through the regular season and had been the top ranked team for most of the year.
But a determined Wildcat team led by quarterback Brett Courville and flanker Gary Triplet kept the Wolves on their heels all night with clutch third-down plays. “We were just off our game tonight,” said St. Paul’s head coach Ken Sears

Wolves run over Northshore

SLIDELL — St. Paul’s Wolves (9-0, 5-0) forced three defensive turnovers and rushed for five offensive touchdowns in their 43-3 District 6-5A victory over the Northshore Panthers (3-6, 1-4) Friday evening at Northshore High School on Senior Night. The win guarantees St. Paul’s at least a share of the district title. The Wolves’ rushing attack controlled the clock, while the Panthers were haunted by bad shotgun snaps and a smothering St. Paul’s defense. The Wolves’ defense picked off Northshore senior quarterback Steven Gaines twice and held the Panthers to 30 total rushing yards.
St. Paul’s offense rushed for 377 yards and senior quarterback Patrick Duncan tossed a touchdown pass. The Wolves converted 22 first downs compared to Northshore’s five. St. Paul’s was also plus two in the turnover ratio.

COVINGTON — St. Paul's Coach Kenny Sears is going to need a bigger desk.

"It was intense and emotional the whole way," said St. Paul's quarterback Patrick Duncan. "People were hitting and hustling all over the place. It was just a physical battle."

Wolves play well in scrimmage vs the Crusaders
Reported by Ken Trahan, sportsnola.com

COVINGTON — Coming off of a season in which they started 12-0 before losing in the 5A quarterfinals to eventual state champion Acadiana, expectations are high for the 2011 St. Paul's Wolves.
Wednesday's scrimmage against perennial playoff team Brother Martin did nothing to dispel those expectations.
The Wolves looked good against the Crusaders, holding Brother Martin scoreless throughout the scrimmage disciplines.
"It was time for us to go against someone else. It was getting monotonous. Both teams were physical," said Wolves coach Kenny Sears.
