NATCHITOCHES — There are times that make you proud as a parent and moments you'd rather forget.
Yesterday brought both to a Northshore mom, who watched as her track star son refused to quit, long after his body did.
“That's Christian. That's the kind of kid he is. Christian's been that way his entire life. He’s a fighter.”
And if seeing is believing, wait until you witness the power of human will captured frame by frame in a home video.

Wolves near perfect in winning district

LORANGER — The Solomon Episcopal Center might be outside of St. Tammany Parish located in Robert, but the District 6-5A Cross Country Meet offered proof that many of the schools are starting to consider it their home and one of their favorite venues. St. Paul's and Fontainebleau turned in solid performances on the way to claiming team titles with the state meet just around the corner.
St. Paul's set the tone with a near perfect score in winning the boys title with 16 points, buoyed by taking the top four spots and placing seven in the top 10 though only the top four count toward team standings. Scott Brewster was the individual champion with a time of 15:33, just six seconds ahead of Zach Albright and 22 seconds ahead of Kraemer Jackson.
"It is a true cross country course," said Brewster. "There are a lot more hills, a bunch of sharp turnarounds, and it slows momentum a lot. It's marked pretty well, so there's no change of going off course. The last time I ran this course was earlier in the season at the Christian Brothers Invitational, and I was close to a minute slower back then, so, we're peaking as a team at the right time."
